MEDIA RELEASE
Wellard is proud to be supporting the next generation of young motocross champions in Western Australia by sponsoring a free coaching day for the local Kojonup community, south of Perth.
Wellard invited local riders and their families to the Yannawah track in Kojonup to develop their motocross riding skills with one-on-one tuition from the Wellard/BRM/Yamaha team’s riders.
The local riders were tutored about safe riding; encouraged to develop their existing skillset and were lead through a series of demonstrations and practical exercises by some of the best riders in the sport.
Wellard Managing Director Mauro Balzarini said he was thrilled the company could be involved in such a great local event, which was initiated by the entrepreneur spirit of Charlie Young, and hoped one day out of this experience, some of the participants may turn their passion into a sporting career.
“It is more than just teaching your riders how to ride an off road bike, it is focussed on encouraging them to take up sport as a way of living, and do it in a safe and fair way. We’ve had positive feedback from the local community members about the coaching day and hope to get involved in more local community events like this in the future because it was such a rewarding day for everyone involved,” said Mr Balzarini.
Local Kojonup rider Charlie Young even managed to safely clear the Big Balls Dam Replica 36 metre jump.
“This jump has been a part of the Young family for many years and to be one of the first to clear it, and to beat Dad, feels absolutely awesome,” said Charlie.
Topping off a great day of riding and skills building for everyone involved was a barbeque, provided by the team from Wellard’s Beaufort River Meats.
