Wellard is getting a new kelpie.
Wellard CEO Mauro Balzarini said the company had been doggedly searching to get its paws on a new ‘man’s best friend’, and had scoured breeders to find one with the right conformation and constitution.
“We’ve gone for a kelpie with an impeccable pedigree,” Mr Balzarini said. “The pup has been conceived and we are patiently waiting for her to come into the world. It comes from a long line of hard workers, particularly skilled at rounding up livestock and getting them moving in the right direction.
“More than anything, it will have the stamina to work stock for days and days, and our kelpie will be judged less on its size and more on its performance around animals.”
Mr Balzarini said any self-respecting Australian rural business should have a well-trained workaholic kelpie, and now Wellard can boast an addition to its pack.
“It was a revelation when I realised that while we had a Ute, we lacked a kelpie to complement it. We looked around for the best breeder and drove a hard bargain to make sure that we will get the pick of the litter.”
“Kelpies of this quality aren’t cheap, but I made sure we weren’t getting a pup,” Mr Balzarini said.
